CHINOOK AWARENESS

Why pressure matters for migraines

Chinook winds in Southern Alberta are often preceded by or accompanied by rapid drops in barometric pressure. Research shows these changes (and pre-Chinook conditions) can increase migraine probability in sensitive individuals. This is weather awareness, not medical advice.

Studies (e.g. Neurology 2000) found higher migraine onset on pre-Chinook and high-wind Chinook days. Many Calgarians report sensitivity to these pressure shifts. Not medical advice.

This tool helps you
  • Spot sudden pressure drops early
  • Track temperature & wind trends linked to Chinooks
  • See pressure-drop alerts as the weather changes
  • Watch the same pressure, temperature, and wind pattern
This is an awareness tool, not medical advice. Consult your healthcare provider for personalized migraine management.
