Chinook winds in Southern Alberta are often preceded by or accompanied by rapid drops in barometric pressure. Research shows these changes (and pre-Chinook conditions) can increase migraine probability in sensitive individuals.
Studies (e.g. Neurology 2000) found higher migraine onset on pre-Chinook and high-wind Chinook days. Many Calgarians report sensitivity to these pressure shifts.
