1. Introduction

Welcome to Peter's HVAC Advisory — a resource built by a senior refrigeration technician for fellow techs in the field.

By creating an account and using this site, you agree to these Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

2. Membership & Access

The first 50 registered members receive free access during beta to member tools and HVAC Lens. After 50 signups, new access is closed until beta is finished. There is no paid signup while beta is closed.

Existing paid subscriptions (if any) remain valid until cancelled. Manage those in the Stripe Customer Portal.

Member tools are for qualified HVAC and refrigeration professionals. Do not share your login credentials.

3. Use of Tools & Calculations

The refrigeration calculators, psychrometric tools, and technical data on this site are provided for reference only.

3.1 Electrical reference tools and conductor sizing

The Electrical calculators — including Ohm’s Law, power conversion, voltage-drop estimates, MCA/MOP suggestions, and any displayed wire size — are field-reference and educational aids only. They are not professional engineering advice, not a design service, and not a substitute for the current Canadian Electrical Code (CEC / CSA C22.1), the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEC or other local regulations, manufacturer instructions, sealed drawings, or a permit.

Final conductor selection, overcurrent-device selection, and installation design must be performed by a person licensed to do that work — a licensed electrician and/or a professional engineer — as required by the applicable statute, regulation, and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).

These tools use simplified tables and assumptions. They do not implement the full CEC (or equivalent), including without limitation: conductor ampacity correction and derating (ambient temperature, more than three current-carrying conductors, bundling, raceway fill), termination-temperature limitations, equipment grounding and bonding, voltage-drop requirements beyond a simplified 3% check, motor-branch exceptions, continuous-load rules beyond a single 80% / 125% factor, underground or thermal-resistivity conditions, or AHJ amendments.

You must not use these results as a basis to operate outside the scope of your licence, ticket, or certificate, or to perform work that requires an electrician’s licence, an engineering seal, or a permit. HVAC and refrigeration technicians remain responsible for staying within their authorized scope and for having licensed electrical work completed by qualified persons.

Results must be independently verified against the current Code, the equipment nameplate, and the AHJ before any material is ordered or installed. The site and its operators make no warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular installation, and accept no liability for personal injury, property damage, failed inspections, or Code violations arising from reliance on these tools.
